Director of the Lymphedema Center | board certified by the American Boards of Holistic Medicine“I understand Lymphedema on a personal level as a cancer survivor, lymphedema patient as well as a committed and dedicated doctor.” Dr. Emily Iker is a distinguished leader in the field of lymphatic disorders, serving as the Director of the Lymphedema Center in Santa Monica. With over three decades of expertise in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she specializes in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of lymphedema and related conditions. Dr. Iker brings a unique perspective to her work as a cancer survivor and lymphedema patient, which fuels her deep understanding and compassion for those she serves. Dr. Iker earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York Medical College (NYMC), where she also served as chief resident. Her early medical career included surgical training at Cabrini Medical Center in New York. Certified by the world-renowned Professor A. Leduc, Ph.D., she has been a pioneer in advancing the care of lymphatic disorders since establishing the Lymphedema Center in 1992. Dr. Iker’s contributions extend beyond clinical care. She is a respected member of numerous international lymphological societies, including the International Society of Lymphology (ISL) and the European Society of Lymphology, and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Lymphedema Network. Her expertise has earned her honorary memberships and invitations to present at prestigious global conferences such as the Fat Disorders Research Society (FDRS) and the European Society of Lymphology. An accomplished author, Dr. Iker has co-authored seminal works including Lymphedema and Lipedema Nutrition Guide and Lymphedema: Complete Medical and Surgical Management. She is dedicated to raising awareness about lymphatic diseases through education, advocacy, and collaboration. As a co-host of LympCast, she brings together world-class experts to explore the latest advancements in lymphatic research and treatment. Dr. Iker is past President of American Society of Lymphology. She is also board certified by the American Boards of Holistic Medicine. Dr. Iker teaches and lectures nationally and internationally and understands Lymphedema on a personal level. In addition, Dr.Iker has a well trained Lymphedema therapist assisting the patient’s needs. Dr. Iker has also collaborated with a group of world-class experts to raise awareness about Lymphatic Diseases.
